Exceptional GCSE Results at Haringey Learning Partnership
Exceptional GCSE Results at Haringey Learning Partnership
There were smiles all round this morning as Year 11s at Haringey Learning Partnership came to collect their exam results. Our young people have really lived up to HLP's shared values of aiming high and striving to do the best they possibly can, and it has certainly paid off this year.
After 18 months of disruption and uncertainty, today felt especially momentous for students, staff and families. Young people across HLP have taken every hurdle in their stride and were delighted to reach the finish line today. Visits from Eveleen Riordan (Assistant Director for Schools and Learning for Haringey), Cllr Zena Brabazon (Cabinet Minister for Early Years, Children and Families) and Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Adam Jogee were a welcome opportunity for students to share their results with community leaders who have supported them throughout the year.
Gerry Robinson, Executive Headteacher, said: “We couldn’t be prouder of our young people today. As students in Alternative Provision, they already face a variety of barriers to education, in addition to the added stress and anxiety of studying throughout a global pandemic. HLP students have embraced the and love of learning and determination which we foster here, and it was lovely to see them open their results and realise that all their hard work was worth it.”
Alex, who achieved 8 qualifications, including a Grade 5 in GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition and a Merit in VCert Health & Fitness, was beaming as he opened his envelope. As a result of all his hard work, he can now go on to his chosen Sports Science college course and is excited about starting in September.
Ruth, a phenomenal artist whose artwork is on permanent display on Ducketts Common, was delighted to achieve 9 qualifications, including Grade 7 in GCSE Fine Art and Grade 5s in GCSE Maths and English. Unsurprisingly, Ruth will be pursuing a Level 3 Art course at college and hopes to become an architect one day.
Oliver's Grade 6 in English Language is a testament to his determination and excellent creative writing skills. His results today have enabled him to enrol onto his chosen college course in September, which he is very much looking forward to.
We wish Oliver, Ruth, Alex and all Year 11 students at HLP, a restful break before they embark on the next steps of their educational journey.
